Recycle

I finally found a place where I can recycle glass! I am in a rural area, so do not have reycyling pickup, I have to drop it off at one of the stations - luckily there is one about a mile up the road. However, at the drop off centers, you cannot leave glass - so I was saving all of these glass jars under my sink until I could either find a use for them, or recycle them!! Well, lo and behold, Target now has recycling bins at the front of the store - and they take GLASS! So, I bagged up my jars and dropped them off. I feel better now, I thought I was going to have to reuse them into glass mosaic tile or something!

Eat your Veggies

I did my spring planting this past weekend. I have some nice herbs going out on the patio, sweet yellow peppers, and tomatoes!! I am hoping they are getting enough sun out there and produce some tomatoes for me without having to inject them with hgh!! Time will tell.

Summertime

Summer TV is horrid. A steady stream of reruns, bad acne cleanser infommercials, and teasers of series that you get into all summer and the netwok does not pick up for fall! SWINGTOWN comes to mind...I loved the show, it lasted a few short months, and that was it. ONE SUMMER. What a tease.

Appliance Rebate

The barcode scanners were wokring overtime on Friday at the big box appliance stores! That was the day you could get big savings plus a rebate from the state on an energy star appliance purchase. According to the news, it added up to about a 30% savings (10% in store discount, and 20% rebate from Florida) - which is a nice chunk of change if you were in the market for a stove, fridge or other big ticket purchase. I wonder if they timed in near the beginning of earth day on purpose?

Earth Week!

Today marks the beginning of Earth Week....you will be inundated with advertising celebrating "Being Green"...asked to reduce, reuse, and recycle, carry canvas shopping bags, use filtered water pitchers instead of plastic bottle....why only for one week though? Why can't we do all these things all year round? If everyone did just one thing, we could make our world a cleaner, better place. So, get out your box cutter and start breaking down those boxes for the recycle bin! Leave the world a better place.

Spring

Spring has sprung. It's the best time of year in Florida - remember that! The temps are sweet, there is no humidity, everything is pretty and new and green. I love this time of year. Soon, we will be sweating, breathing in the cool A/C, adn turning on the pond light so we can see.....until then, we savor these few weeks of bliss.

Wow. It's been a while, not that I am sure anyone is paying attention - but I need some mac memory to recall what I was going to tell you all.

Went on a trip, girl's weekend to Mt Dora - a quaint little town Northwest of Orlando. Lots of shops and restaurants. It was fun.

Then we had some Easter, and work. Lots of work. Always grateful for that!

Smokeless

I haven't been to the mall in forever, but had to get my watch repaired. What is with these people and the electronic cigarette ? Is that thing for real, or just something to puff on so smokers can quit? If they are still getting nicotine, what's the point? And, if they are not getting the nicotine - what is the point? I saw someone at a kiosk with them and thought he was actualy smoking in the mall! Do they think that is cool? Smoking is a pretty gross habit, why would anyone want to "faux" smoke?
