Wolf to Woof

Tomorrow I am going to the Florida International Museum with some friends to see this exhibit. We are all "dog people", and are looking forward to a nice day at the museum learning more about the history of our furry friends, and then a nice lunch downtown.

Ash Wednesday

And the traditional beginning of Lent. I am not Catholic, but I do partake in the "Lenten Sacrifice"....ie; giving something up for Lent, so that I remain mindful of the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross, and the 40 days he spent in the wilderness fasting & praying with no one but Satan coming to test him. I normally go for the gusto on this as well, and pick something that truly is a sacrifice..so I put a lot of thought into it. Thsi year, I am giving up Pasta. Not just spaghetti, "Pasta" is everything pasta, including macaroni & cheese, ramen noodles, and things with pasta in them, as chicken noodle soup. Here I go!

Follow Up

Got a call from my friend/former co-worker today, his wife had the biopsy...they met with the Doctor yesterday and there was no cancer! Very good news!!

Why I Walk

Today, I had lunch with a friend and former co-worker. He and his wife are looking at retirement soon. His wife recently had a mammogram, after letting a few years go by without doing so. They found 2 lumps in her breast. She is having a biopsy next week. This is why I walk. You're not too young, nor are you too old. Get a mammogram, do your monthly self exam, do not wait...early detection is the key.

Good guys DO win!

Congratulations to Tony Dungy and the Indianapolis Colts! It's nice to see the Good Guy win! Tony was fired by the Glazer family (owners of my Tampa Bay Buccaneers) because he did not take the Bucs to the "next level", never mind that he took a team that was the joke of the NFL, turned them around and took them to the playoffs, and NFC championship game. He was too laid back for them, too calm. They wanted someone who would scream at the players, rather than offer calm counsel. Someone who would curse and make faces, rather than lead by example. Someone who would work long hours rather than make time for his family. So, they fired our beloved Tony, and hired Jon Gruden. We got our Super Bowl the following season...I still say that was Tony Dungy's team that won us a ring. It was great to see Tony's team win last night, and it was even greater to hear him stand up and talk about being a man of God, and how proud he was of his team. How proud he was to be the first African American coach to win a Super Bowl, and to not follow the norm, but doing it "God's Way". Amen, Brother. What a wonderful example for all to follow.

Success!

We collected $352 on Saturday at our fundraiser! Split between us, and that's another $176 towards my goal! We think the weather being wet & chilly weather may have contributed to less foot traffic, but all in all I am pleased! Thanks to all who were kind enough to drop something in the bucket!

3 Day Walk Fundraiser

My sister and I will be at the Hollybrook Plaza Publix at SR54 and I-75 in Wesley Chapel/Zephyrhills from 10-4 tomorrow asking for donations! We're hoping with it being Superbowl weekend there will be a lot of people going to the grocery store! Come out and say "Hi" if you live in the area, and maybe drop something in the bucket for breast cancer!
